  2. Oldairfield says

The airfield is USAAF Air Station 112 Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, England. The pilot is Lt-Colonel Cass Hough (1904-1990) Deputy Commander of The Air Technical Section U.S. 8th Army Air Force, Bovingdon. He was the Unit Test Pilot and an innovator in Research and Development. The P47 Thunderbolt depicted was his personal aircraft. He was deeply involved in the development and improvement of the P47 Thunderbolt, P38 Lightning (also seen in this footage) and the Merlin Engined P51 Mustang. See similar Pathe footage 'USAF Pilot (1944).
