Two women walk up the driveway of country house with small children. M/S of sign: 'Sunshine House - Nursery School for Blind Children - Conducted by the Royal National Institute for the Blind.' Children play on roundabout, slides, swings in the garden. Nurses cuddle children and watch them play. The boy we saw earlier knocks his car into a fence post. A teacher stands with him as he gets out to touch whatever is in the way, then gets back into the car and drives on up the path.
Children playing with wooden blocks, puzzles and plastic containers in a sink in a classroom. In a sitting room, children sit around, listening to music on a record player while their teacher sits knitting. A mother sitting chatting to a teacher in the garden leaps up to alert her small daughter when she is about to walk into a pram. The teacher motions her not to worry. Commentator talks of the teachers at the home helping parents not to be overprotective. The same mother and daughter are seen in special unit / house at the home at Court Grange, where parents are instructed by teachers in helping their children in everyday activities. The woman feeds her daughter at the table and the teacher shows her how to help the girl feed herself. At a sink they help the girl to dry her face and hands.
Pan across rows of people sitting in hall, attending parents' meeting. Blind and seeing adults sit a table at the front of the hall and speak to the gathering. People chat and have a cup of tea. Exterior of school for older blind children. At Chorleywood College we see blind girls using Braille maps and kitchen equipment in a cooking class (commentator says lots of husbands would like their wives to have a more developed sense of taste!). Girls in gymnasium. Girls in a common room knit and read; one makes notes in Braille. Blind girl plays piano. Sign on gate: 'Worcester College for the Blind'. Boys walk into the school building and sit in the grounds, reading. Young blind boys at desks in classroom, reading and making Braille marks on boards. Other boys doing metalwork; older boys in science class. Boys are made up before performance of play. Other boys watch the play - 'The Caine Mutiny'. Boys playing chess in library and judo in gym.
