Could this possibly be the Kent v Northants match in 1954 the day after Cowdrey was selected for the 1954/55 MCC tour of Australia - hence the attention on him and the congratulatory handshake he receives from the Northants player? Cowdrey discussed the match in his autobiography.

Rather than being played at "Rushton", sources indicate that the location was actually the Town Ground in Rushden.
Answering your question, British Pathe - the match was drawn.

This is a match between Northants CCand Kent CC, in about the middle 1950's.
It shows Frank Tyson bowling, and the Kent openers Arthur Phebey and Bob Wilson batting.
When a wicket falls, Colin Cowdrey comes from the pavilion to bat, and footage is shown of him batting.
