• Short Summary

Students having fancy dress party in the middle of Newcastle for charity - great fun!

  • Description

Newcastle (Newcastle upon Tyne), Tyne and Wear.

High angle C/U shot of a table with four pairs of hands playing cards. Cut to M/S of the faces of the players - two young guys and two young girls with funny hats (Mexican hat, yellow hat with red ribbon, woollen knitted cap). C/U shot reveals the face of the young man with funny woollen cap (cute face). He has a matching woollen knitted scarf around his neck and peculiar pink cigar (looks like a lolly). C/U shot of the face of another young man. He has false moustache and yellow hat with a red ribbon. The are sitting in the middle of the road!

Suddenly, a guy with false moustache leaves the table and starts running with his trousers down. He runs to another table with some more people in fancy dress playing cards. For all this time, people and cars are passing by - bizarre!

"...these apparently hardened gamblers are taking up the annual rag organised by Kings College students of Durham University in aid of charity. Rag week embraces every form of entertainment, that takes a student committee ten months to organise."

There are several happenings around and everyone appears to be having fun: slave market with students dressed as slave girls and bearded bidders, spaghetti eating contest (lots of C/U shots of the people shovelling pasta into their mouths), 'two men bathing a girl on top of a truck (it is called 'bubble bath' and the girl in the bath is Jean Rawlin), girls wearing 1920's dresses dancing Charleston (great frocks and great band)...
