Nancy Mackenzie and Mrs Outlaw print their fabric designs and show us the results.
Unissued / unused footage - dates and locations may be unclear / unknown.
Titles read: 'UNIQUE FACTORY PRINTS FABRICS'.
Exterior of Annan Fabrics building. M/S of someone unlocking the front door and it opening to reveal lots of printed fabrics hanging up inside. Commentator says "If only we had some coupons left!".
Several shots of a woman, Miss Nancy Mackenzie tracing a leaf design onto a silk screen stencil block. Nancy and another woman, Mrs Outlaw (sp?) print the design onto cotton fabric using dye and rubber squeegees. The dyes are fixed by being washed in an acid bath.
The two women show us several other printed fabrics, with designs of feathers, pine trees, fish, flowers and abstract designs. Some are typically Australian - one features emu shapes.
Nice look at designs of the 1940s.
