UN (United Nations) meeting in Paris. France.

M/Ss of R Zafrullah Khan, the Pakistani delegate speaking. C/U of Mrs Pandit as she walks onto rostrum. C/U of her speaking, "India has tried to judge all the questions before the general assembly as objectively as possible. For us the spirit of the Charter means much more than its letter. We have in the past avoided alignments with this bloc or that an attitude which has often been misunderstood. We are, however, convinced that this is a correct stand even if it means some temporary disadvantage. It is not based on any weakness but is a result of our condition that by avoiding grouping with any power bloc we are, in however small a fashion helping towards the maintenance of peace. One of the greatest problems with which the world is faced today is the continuing practise of racial discrimination in certain parts of the world. Allow me to repeat Mr President that this is one of the gravest dangers to world peace....... on Hyderabad, I must speak more freely. Since my arrival in this country nothing aroused my indignation so much as the constant and persistent misrepresentation and misunderstanding of the action that India was obliged to take in Hyderabad a few days ago. Of the legal aspects of the matter I shall say nothing, I am here concerned only with the moral issue. People often as how it is that while accepting Gandhi's doctrine of no-violence India should have though fit ti resort ti the use of force in Hyderabad. Those who know the facts sir the surprise is not that India intervened but that India did not intervene much earlier."

It was a naked aggression under false pretext. I am amazed that Mrs. Pandith is justifying instead of being ashamed of a flagrant violation of human rights and international laws that India invades a peaceful state which had an impeccable record of peace, love, fraternity and good governance and just gobbled it up to get to the riches of the state. The people of Hyderabad State irrespective of religion had no problem. Unfortunately this was one of the numerous failures of UN. League of Nations was disbanded coz it could not avoid world wars. One had hoped in the post war era there would be no such adventurism. But India resorted to it and took over Kashmir and Hyderabad against the wishes of its people. Their wishes were never ascertained and violence was resorted to by air and ground having illegally economically blockaded a land locked state which was the Switzerland of Asia. Even today the occupation is illegal regardless. 500,000 people lost their lives needlessly. India go out.
