He says "I welcome this opportunity to state again under oath, as I did before the Federal Grand Jury convened in the eastern district of New York to investigate the charges similar to those before this Committee, that I am not, and never have been, a Communist". He says he should like to state at the start that he is not now and never has been a Communist, nor even close to becoming one.
