Mrs. Westell shows us how to make our own personalised tailor's dummy from brown sticky tape.

  • Description

    New Southgate, London.

C/U of the back of model, June Jarvis' head. Another older woman, Mrs. Margaret Westall is attaching a bandage to June's neck. M/S of June and Margaret from the front. Margaret is wrapping June in a muslin bandage which she is holding in place with brown tape. C/U of Margaret's hand tearing off a piece of tape from a dispenser. Various shots of Margaret adding more and more tape to June's shoulders.

C/U of Margaret's face. The narrator explains that Margaret is using bandages and brown tape to make a mould of June's body - 'twinform' - which she can use as a dressmaking dummy when making her own clothes. M/S of June and Margaret. Margaret asks June to turn around. June's shoulders and chest are almost completely covered with brown tape. Tilt down to show the rest of June's body and legs.

Tilt up from June's legs to show that the 'twinform' brown tape mould is now reaching June's hips. C/U of Margaret reaching for the scissors. Margaret uses the scissors to cut the twinform from June's body, as if she were removing a plaster cast. According to the narrator twinforms are better than tailor's dummies as each person's figure is unique and the moulding of the twinform takes this into account. Twinforms usually take an hour and a half to make but Margaret is an expert and can make one in half an hour.

Margaret carefully removes the "cocoon" from Junes body. June turns to look at her twinform and laughs with surprise. M/S of Margaret holding the twinform as June takes a close look at it. C/U of June's head. Tilt down to June's breasts - she is wearing only a dress-style petticoat. Camera pans across from June's breasts to the breasts of the twinform.
