  • Short Summary

President Truman and film stars celebrate posthumous birthday of Franklin Roosevelt.

  • Description

Unissued / unused footage - dates and locations may be unknown / unclear.

Washington DC, United States of America.

Shots of Truman, his wife Bess and their daughter posing in the White House with a small group of celebrities in a posthumous celebration of FDR's birthday. Among those seen are child film star Margaret O'Brien, actor William Bendix, actor Eddie Bracken, film and musical star Van Johnson, woman who could be stage actress Elisabeth Bergner and actress Angela Lansbury (the latter seen in L/S only).

We then see the stars with the President and his family on stage at an evening function. A huge birthday cake is cut and passed out to people. M/S of Margaret O'Brien and Van Johnson eating cake. Cut to audience standing on dance floor - seems to be all young couples, with several men in uniform. Nice elevated view of couples lindy hopping / jitterbugging / jiving / dancing as we hear faint swing music on soundtrack.
