    Various shots of speed walkers walking up a village street, a small crowd of spectators stands on the pavement, the walkers are accompanied by men on bicycles (their coaches?).

    M/S of the sea front at Brighton, crowds line the street to see Tom Payne win the race, Policemen hold back the eager spectators. C/U of Tom at the end of the race surrounded by well-wishers wanting to shake his hand. Tom is on the verge of collapse, he places his hand in his hand and appears to be sobbing.
