• Short Summary

A visit to Iceland, on board HMS Nelson.

  • Description

Titles read: "To the land where depressions come from! Iceland".

    Iceland.

Various shots on board HMS Nelson, heading for Iceland; the destroyer ship 'Crescent' follows behind. On Nelson, sailors play deck hockey. Brief shot of a street in Reykjavik, capital of Iceland. The crew of Nelson have a water polo match against Icelanders in an artificial lake, heated by hot springs. Several shots of geysers shooting hot water and steam into the air. The geysers are used for communal laundries and we see some women washing clothes and sheets and hanging them out to dry in the open air.

Various shots of the ice fields and glaciers on the mountains; ice-cold streams run alongside them. Men and women sort through codfish in a harbour. The fish are split open, salted and left to dry in the sun. One woman measures fish with a ruler.
