    01:29:00 VS of the surrendered Italian Navy in Malta harbour. VS of Benito Mussolini being rescued from captivity by Germans. VS of fascist symbols being smashed and taken down from buildings in Italy. Shots of people celebrating in the streets of Rome.

    01:30:00 VS of old Roman road with ancient statues by roadside. VS Allied troops move through bomb damaged streets of Naples. VS of damaged ships in harbour. VS of crowds in street - people queue for water. MS a horsedrawn hearse passes by.

    01:31:40 American General Mark Clark leaves Naples in his personal plane. VS of British artillery firing. VS Italians working on vines. VS of British infantry in house to house fighting in town.

    01:33:11 VS of German Prisoners of War (POWs) Shots of Allied bombers flying. Aerial views of war time Rome. American bombers fly on and drop bombs.
