    01:08:49 Sequence of artillery fire. (Voice over suggests this is near Verdun.)

    01:09:07 French troops marching, in battlefield landscape. French troops lined up and putting on gas masks. Nuns at school secure children's gas masks. (Preparations for attack on Verdun apparently). Large railway mounted artillery firing. Artillery gun recoils after firing shell. Explosion. Young children running into shelter at school. As they run they are fastening their gas masks.

    01:10:13 Large shell lifted into place. Massive railway mounted gun raises barrel. It fires a shell. Another gun fires.

    01:10:22 Marshall Petain inspecting French troops. C/U Petain.

    01:10:37 German naval warships. The German ensign is flying. German ship moving along large canal. Sailor signals message using semaphore flags. His colleague looks through binoculars. British warships at sea. Interior of ship. Men load ships gun. Shot of gun firing. L/S ships. Sequence of ships firing guns. Interior shot of gun loaders. More guns firing and ships being hit. Long sequence of naval engagement meant to represent the Battle of Jutland. Large explosion, looks as if ships magazine has exploded. M/S ships at sea. Interior - stokers in engine room shovel coal into boilers. Parts of the engine moving. Ships moving. Ship surrounded by mist. Ships at sea.

    01:12:37 Coffin loaded onto gun carriage by naval ratings. Funeral of John Travers Cornwall. (ON10S) Young men line up to pull the coffin along. High angle shot of naval band leading coffin through crowd lined streets.

    01:12:57 Men, part of a church choir, boy scouts and young boys in parade. Crowd of young children gather around unveiling ceremony. Sailor removes cover from plaque. Above the plaque is the Union Jack and the English flag of St. George. The sailor has only one arm and is wearing two medals pinned to his chest.
