  • Description

Titles read: "THEIR MAJESTIES IN LANARKSHIRE".

    Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Various shots of King George VI (Prince Albert, Duke of York) and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother, Duchess of York) during their tour of industrial Scotland. At Hillington the Queen snips through a ribbon to open a new industrial estate and she and the King wander about talking to veterans (? mature men with medals); crowds cheer.

At a Clydebridge Steel Works the royals take a tour of the factory and watch the production of steel plates for shipbuilding through smoked glass. Crowds of Scottish children cheer by the road as the King and Queen arrive at Carfin Hall, the Scottish Welfare Centre. The royal couple inspect a timber built house. The King digs a bit of ground on a new estate (sign says Lanarkshire Industrial Estate).
