Titles read: "THE WHEEL AND THE WAY".
Various locations of events.
Several shots of wheels - a woman sitting at a spinning wheel, a water wheel, a woman using an exercise wheel (one where you are strapped into a metal wheel and roll around in it looking graceful). Several shots of wheels in transport - men race on bicycles and penny farthings, a car drives along, C/U of steam train wheels in action.
Animated diagrams show a tree being struck by lightning, the fallen trunk being used to roll logs along by a prehistoric man. The sledge and rollers evolve into the early cart on a fixed roller, then friction from the roller was alleviated by cutting the roller down in the centre, creating the wheel axle. An ancient wheel is seen in a museum.
A man rolls a huge wooden cart wheel towards us. In a factory we see various shots of car wheels being made, then C/U of the finished wheel turning on a car. Brief shot of a line of tanks coming along a dirt road towards us; C/U of a large wheel with several knobs attached to the outside.
We then see a man driving a tractor into a field. An attractive young woman waves to him, runs over and gives him a kiss, then the man stands up in the tractor with his arms in the air in a gesture of exhilaration. In speeded up footage he drives off across the field as the woman waves goodbye to him. M/S of a pyramid as we see a little animated dog run to the top and call out 'Whoopee!'.
