  • Short Summary

Ambulance practice at Pevensey Bay, East Sussex.

  • Description

The VADs - smart ambulance practice at Pevenesey Bay, East Sussex.

Group of nurses in line, seen from behind, as they listen to a clergyman making a speech from the entrance of a building swathed in flags. Ambulance men (?) stand listening with hats off and heads bowed.

Nurses carry a man on a stretcher from an ambulance and along a path. Ambulance men lift a man on a stretcher down from an ambulance and carry it off.

Inside a tent, with the covering only on the top half of the tent, we can see the lower halves of the nurses and ambulance men milling about inside - possibly putting stretchers in position in makeshift hospital tent?

    VAD - Voluntary Aid Detachment.
