    "It seems an odd kind of race - the cars are starting off one or two at a time" - it's a Handicap Race: the cars are started at intervals determined by the handicapper, so that they should all finish at the same time.

    Whit-Monday BARC Meeting on 16th May 1932.
    The clips are probably a compilation from various races on that day.

    The cars lined up for the start sequence is the "Nottingham Lightning Mountain Handicap."
    Car No.6 is Raymond Mays (wearing his ubiquitous beret) in his Invicta.
    Car No.2 is Whitney Straight's black Maserati.
    Car No.1 is Earl Howe's Bugatti.
    Howe won from Straight by two-fifths of a second.
