Various shots of the Paris Fire Brigade trying out their new ladder, the highest of its kind in France. It is opened out, telescopically, before Notre Dame, and a fireman climbs up it to sit on the very top - level with the upper storeys of the cathedral. The ladder is then electrically folded back down to the fire engine at quite a speed - no sign of the fireman! A crowd of people watch from the ground.
