    Filmed at Pembroke Dock Yard, Dyfed, Wales.

    Introductory intertitle reads: "In the first days of the war, HMS Birmingham distinguished herself by sinking a German submarine. Today, she stands under the hands of the Shipbreakers." M/S of the ship in dock. Various shots of the ship being dismantled. One of the funnels is lifted off. "The steel will be melted down - pumps, etc, will be overhauled and used again, and the timber will make furniture." Various shots of men at work on the ship. Man wears goggles as he uses welding equipment to remove part of the ship. C/U of blow torch being used. C/U of worker using a hammer to break up part of ship.

    Ted Kirby, the Champion Shipbreaker is featured. C/U of Ted, looking smart in a suit and flat cap. M/S of two men working together to break up part of the ship with a hammer. L/S of broken parts of the ship piled up in front of the shipyard. Closer view of the broken up pieces of metal. C/U of two searchlights - presumably from the ship. "Before her exit, the Birmingham had been used as a target - and these "shots" show some of the other kind of shots that hit her." Various shots of places where the hull has been damaged by shots.
