Wonderful early colour item showing people having fun on the Thames - punting, picnics, swimming etc

  • Description

Rare stencil colour Pathe Pictorial item.

Titles tinted magenta - rest stencil coloured.

Introductory intertitle reads: "The River of liquid history - the flowing Thames, gliding towards the great city - " London: the Thames. View of people on the river in punts. Views taken from a moving boat. Pleasure boats. The boat goes past swimmers and under bridges. Private parties on the banks and picnics in boats. Lovely shots of women eating lunch in punts - having a picnic. Camera travels past large country houses.

Was originally an item in Pathe Pictorial issue number 633.

Note: although the can is labelled "Pathetone early colour" the films in this reel are all Pathe Pictorial items, not Pathetone items. JDG suggests that this was shot in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
