Various shots of the large scale Red Army manoeuvres in Soviet Union. Red Army infantry, light artillery, heavy artillery and planes are seen in action. Several shots of high ranking officers inspecting the troops positions and overlooking the manoeuvres.
Various shots of the infantry men crossing the stream in order to break into enemy lines. Men are seen cutting the barbed wire and sneaking onto enemy territory whilst others surround them and wait for the attack. A dog (Alsatian) is used as a currier - carrying messages from one position to another.

There are other items with the same title THE RED ARMY - 1940 which most likely belong to the same film. Film shows and explains battle tactics of the 1940 and was used for teaching in Russian military schools. It is also a great propaganda item.
