Various shots of Red Army officer (listed in the old record as Marshal Timoshenko) in front of long lines of soldiers and officers sums up the exercise, map behind him. End title reads 'Tactical teachings of the year 1940 enriched the Red Army and will lead us to new victories'.

    Various shots of May Day parade through Red Square, Moscow in 1940. The parade of military might under the eye of Joseph Visarionovich Stalin, Vyacheslav Molotov, Marshal Zhukov, and several other dignitaries. Some great weapons seen. Revolutionary song accompanies parade.

    There are other items with the same title THE RED ARMY - 1940 which most likely belong to the same film. Film shows and explains battle tactics of the 1940 and was used for teaching in Russian military schools. It is also a great propaganda item.
