Religious ceremony - several people run across hot coals.
No title. According to paper records this is a story called "The Ordeal of Fire" and was shot in India.
A large procession of people walk through a village street - some play musical instruments. M/S of a man standing beside a Buddha or other religious icon. His hands are clasped in prayer. Shots of other religious people walking and dancing. Some seem to be in spiritual trances. M/S of a large pile of wood on fire - a funeral pyre possibly. People walk towards a smaller pile and place branches on the fire. A man stands in front of the fire as a woman moves strangely - she seems to be going into a trance.
Intertitle reads: "Red hot cinders - a path of scorching heat - but across it these devotees cross - to Paradise." Panning shot reveals an area of hot coals. People run across the coals one by one. It looks like some are made to do so against their will.
