Great shots of a nightclub on an island preceded by a dance demonstration.

  • Description

Olivette stands beside a piano as the composer M. Camille de Rhynal plays a tune. Olivette sings along. "This lissom "Blues" interpretation has just been awarded the first prize of the Imperial Society of Dance Teachers and is being adopted by leading Teachers of the Art..." L/S of the Pathe Studio dressed up to look like a ballroom dancing venue. Several women sit at tables alone, a woman plays the piano. Olivette and M. Camille de Rhynal step onto the floor. The demonstrate the new dance. It is a rather ugly dance I think. C/U of their feet as they dance. L/S of the dance.

"He would have gone on for hours, but, fortunately night fell. He wouldn't leave, however, but turned his camera on to the ferry bringing the merrymakers to the Cabaret." L/S of an open ferry which transports a large group of merry makers onto an island. This is filmed at night. Bell boys help the revellers off the ferry, the girls wear short skirts (possibly fancy dress outfits) and some carry balloons. "They danced on the lawn -" Night shot of the dancing. "They danced inside - " Interior of the club - couples dance. High angle shots of the dance floor. "Then, while the merrymakers dined, the Dodge Twins gave their Peacock Dance." Two women in elaborate costumes - they hold large feather fans above their heads and wear flesh revealing outfits. M/S of them walking up the stairs towards the orchestra.

Note: This is a very large nightclub, presumably on an island. Possibly the Cafe de Paris at Bray. Olivette was a dancer at Murray's Club.
