Lovely film showing the processes involved in making straw hats.

Some stand and some sit, one very young girl works in the foreground. Dissolve into a M/S of the women working.

C/U of the hat being started. "Larger and larger it grows..." C/U of the hat taking shape. The hat is placed over a wooden block and moulded.

"...and fitted at each step on a model." The hat is put onto the block again. The brim is sewn around the edge and another block is used to shape the brim. "Even these country hats must have a lining and so ..." C/U of the lining being sewn in and trimmed. The hat is turned for the camera.

Was an item in Eve's Film Review issue number 622.

Note: very nicely filmed showing the craft of millinery.
