  • Description

The great victory ball. The Royal Albert Hall, London

The Great Victory Ball. Cameos of the Carnival at the Albert Hall -and it looks like Carnival too! - a costume ball - some of the people wear costumes related to the theme of World War One. Various shots of people posing in costumes. Woman putting earrings on man dressed in Indian costume w/ turban; pearls. Woman in white gown w/ some twine wrapped criss-cross round her chest and also wrapped diagonally cross her legs she is gazing upward in a noble way - an expression much in style back then.

Couple in wedding type costumes; they stand frozen; then crack smiles. Woman wearing masses of beads and a huge hat - she may be supposed to be India also. Dissolve fade to a couple in period costumes - Elizabethan. Fade to another couple in really spectacular period costumes. Next a woman wrapped in lots of white; next to another dressed all in sparkle and sequins; skin tight; with a weird head-dress -- this is like a Mardi Gras mermaid or something - fairly bizarre. Finally; another noble-look woman, dresses as Britannia.

Theatre; parties; celebration; clothing. World War One; Armistice celebration, Fashion; events.
