  • Short Summary

Picturesque shots in a large garden, comedy routine by Alfred Lester and dance from "The Punch Bowl".

  • Description

Intertitle reads: "It is only a tiny garden Where the sweetest roses grow..." A woman poses in a garden with a parasol.

Intertitle reads: "And every Eve who loves a garden may improve the tiniest one by adapting some of the ideas shown in these prize winning gardens". Woman walks through gardens with very ornate plant stands and urns. A child with a parasol plays by a fountain. She pulls a water lily from the water and smells it. A young girl sits by a statue - looks like a biblical figure. Woman dangles her hand in water of small ornamental pond. Child potters around in a rockery.

Next section appears to be from a stage show. Alfred Lester's scientific "stetho-thermal" methods are illustrated. Doddery man approaches fake plants in pots with a stethoscope. He listens to a flower through his stethoscope. He then takes the pulse of another plant and the temperature of another. Title reads: "But in "Chili Bom-Bom" Sonnie Hale shows Hermione Baddeley this "treat-em-rough" dance". Sonnie throws Hermione around whilst chorus girls in weird hats dance behind.

Note: "Chilli Bom-Bom" was a song from the show "The Punch Bowl" I believe. Alfred Lester also appeared in this show so it is possible that his act seen here was part of that revue.
