Various shots of the huge crowds and cars arriving at Epsom for Derby Day. Nice shots of people milling about, having picnics on the grass out the boot of their cars and placing bets. King George VI (Prince Albert, Duke of York) and Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother, Duchess of York) arrive and shake hands with officials. They are followed by Queen Mary, the Duke (Prince Henry) and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent (Prince George and Princess Marina) and Lord Lonsdale.

The royal party walks along the course. Then the horses and jockeys parade before the crowds. Brief shot of a Pathe cameraman at his camera, using "the world's largest newsreel lens - a veritable giant telescope that brings you every detail of the Royal expressions". Several shots of the royals as they look through binoculars and chat.

The race starts; several shots of the horses running along the course. Bois Roussel wins the Derby, followed by Scottish Union and Pasch. Bois Roussel is led to the winners enclosure.
