    L/S of horses and jockeys lining up at start of race. The gate goes up and see them set off. Panning L/S of horses racing around Epsom Downs racecourse. L/S of crowds of spectators, some on roofs of parked cars. Various shots of the race and the crowds. M/S of winning horse (Mammoud?) and jockey being escorted off track by mounted police.

    Intertitle: "The Derby 1936".

    Point of view shot from vehicle in traffic jam to race course. Various shots of crowds gathering at race course. Various C/Us of characters at course; a tipster, a man with a pet monkey playing the accordion, a singing clown (Joey the clown?), vendors selling hot food, race forms and chocolates.

    Various shots of jockeys and horses preparing for race. C/U of bookmaker. M/S of board showing names of horses. More crowd shots. Various shots horses being led onto tracks. We see the gate lift and horses set off. Various shots of the Derby race. Mammoud wins, ridden by Charlie Smirk. The winning horses' owner, the Aga Khan walks onto tracks to congratulate jockey and horse. Another of the Aga Khan's horses comes second, Tajackbar (sp.?). Various shots of the Aga Khan walking next to his horse and jockey as they leave the course.

    Note: the singing clown featured turns up at several racing events in 1930s and 1940s.
