Demonstration of the right and wrong way to Charleston - Phyllis Haylor and Alec Millar teach.
The right and wrong way to do the Charleston.
Phyllis Haylor and Alec Millar demonstrate the Charleston. They are holders of the World's Ballroom Championship (mixed) in 1925 and World's Tango Championship 1924.
"Few dances have aroused so much controversy as the Charleston. It has been both condemned and praised but, like most dances, depends on its exponents. Clumsy dancers will make a clumsy dance. For example -"
A group of bright young things stand around and watch a couple do an ungainly version of the Charleston. Another version is shown - presumably the proper way to do the Charleston but it seems like there is an intertitle missing. C/U of the feet to show the appropriate steps. L/S of the couple dancing. When they have finished their demonstration they bow to the camera and the spectators applaud.
