C/U of a man holding a ruler against a piece of metal to show the length of it as it is stretched. The bar breaks when the stress becomes too great. C/U of the broken bar.
"The impact tester shows how varieties of steel stand shock tactics." M/S of man operating the impact tester. C/U of a small piece of metal is buffeted by a larger piece of metal - it bends. A hardened piece of steel is subjected to the same treatment and it snaps. A vertical press is operated by a man in dark glasses. M/S of part of the press which crushes a brick. We see the brick exploding in slow motion.
