Children's carnival in Austria made slightly sinister by the presence of Nazi insignia.
Titles read: "Temptation!"
Several shots of the annual children's carnival in the town of Klosterneuberg on the River Danube. Couples in traditional costume dance about in the streets. Young boys jump along in a sack race and try to bite at large preztels that hang on strings above them. A boy walks along a log; there is a sausage hanging near his head, but he doesn't try to eat it.
Girls in traditional dresses serve drinks from little stalls; small swastika pennants / flags are clearly seen hanging from the stalls. Boys have a jousting match, wearing big top hats that cover their faces; a young man wearing a Nazi armband assists them in the game.
Several boys are seen eating away at the large 'temptation cake' - the tradition is that you keep on eating until you find the coin that is hidden inside. A blond boy holds up the cream-covered coin.
Note: the carnival was a tradition dating from the 13th century, but here looks slightly sinister, due to the presence of the Nazi insignia.
