  • Short Summary

An acrobatic dance performed by Winsome Winnie - lots of contortionist type flexibility.

  • Description

Full title reads: "Suppleness & Winsome Winnie - Age 15 and three times winner of All-England Dance Championship."

Introductory intertitle reads: "The recent Parliamentary enquiry into the training of children for the stage, has emphasised the necessity for starting early in life, especially when these supple movements are to be performed."

High angle shot of Winnie doing an acrobatic headstand. M/S of Winnie leaning on a low box then lifting her legs into the air and over her head - a contortionist type feat. Seen also from high angle. Various shots of Winnie's dance which is very acrobatic - lots of one hand handstands, backward rolls, prancing about, more contortionist work. It all looks rather amateurish by today's standards but she certainly is very flexible.

Alas, the soundtrack is currently missing for this item.

Note: according to paper records the girl's name is Winnie Ryeland and she is a pupil of the Sunshine School of dancing in Chatham - probably in Kent. The music should have been "Blue Hawaiian Waters by Ketelby.
