Sedona Legend says
For the sake of history I feel your caption for this newsreel still needs some attention. I appreciate your alteration in regard to my last comment. The airport is LaGuardia- New York City, the date is February 5, 1946. Ava Gardner was connected to Howard Hughes, yes, but she was not at this event, neither was Howard Hughes. The plane is the TWA Constellation Star of Paris (NC86511) -first scheduled passenger service 'transatlantic' by TWA to Europe. The christening device is a 'cloud gun' as titled by TWA. The christening unit emitted vapor instead of breaking a champagne bottle on the fuselage, this prevented denting the aluminum. I would assume it was a CO2 type device (like a small fire extinguisher).
