Various jobs on board the ocean liner Berengaria - very nice footage.
No title. M/S of the liner Berengaria. Intertitle reads: "The oldest sailor and the oldest "page" we expect."
M/S of an elderly sailor with his arm on the shoulder of a young boy in a black uniform with buttons down the front. We then see the ship's gardener (there are apparently over 6,000 plants to look after on the ship.) Shot of a man tending to some plants against a painted backdrop of palatial gardens. We see the gymnasium attendant. He wears a sailors hat and a vest and trousers. He wears boxing gloves and hits a ball on a spring - boxing training. The on-board chemist is featured. He stands in front of several shelves of labelled glass jars. The Linotype man for the daily paper appears next. He sits at a printing press setting up the type.
The window cleaner "every piece of glass gives him a pane - " Man in a bow tie and suit cleans the inside of some windows - probably in a lounge area. He smiles at the camera as he works. A female shop attendant sits in an open doorway of what is probably a tobacconist. The next person featured isn't introduced by an intertitle but it is the cinema projectionist. "The floating Bank" is seen - a customer draws out some money. The bugler sounds the call for meals. C/U of man in uniform playing the bugle. When he finishes he turns to the camera and smiles. L/S of the liner.
Interesting footage of life aboard a liner.
Note: flash-frame intertitles.
