Skyscape. Rain falling on a pavement. Umbrella is put up. Top shot of a horse standing in the rain. Water pours from a drainpipe. Shot from inside a hat shop of the rain outside. Man jumps into a doorway to get out of the rain. Children play with marbles as they shelter from the rain. Top shot of puddles in the road as the rain suddenly stops - the sun emerging from a cloud is reflected in a puddle. Young boy holding a football looks up at the sky. He walks out into the street with a young toddler on child reins bouncing his ball. Boys play in a street with a paper boat in a rain filled gutter.
Boy with face lit up creeps up behind boy with football and knocks it out of his hand. Another boy runs away with it and a chase ensues. A man drinks from a beer bottle in an alley as the boys run past. The brush past a woman who is carrying a mug of liquid which they make her spill. The boy with the ball ducks in to an alley where two men work at an outdoor forge. He then gives the original boy his ball back. Group of boys look up at the church clock. A door is closed. Two boys find themselves in the church and look worried. A man is collecting hymn books. Boy with football whispers to the other. Top shots of the boys walking in the church and of the boys looking up at the sculptures. Toddler stops to grab a metal ring attached to the floor. Shots of various icons in the church. Toddler tries to grab a purse the other boy is holding in his hand. Moving shots of icons. Toddler pulls the purse out of the boys hand and marbles scatter on to the church floor. Hymn book collector looks sternly at the boys then we see a view of them through wooden railings of the church. Man walks towards them looking stern.
The boys look worried. He smiles as he looks at the toddler's grubby face and helps the boys pick up the marbles. Military band on horseback. Painter carries an easel. Boys watch a fisherman on a small boat. A net bag containing some milk bottles is placed on the bridge. Net is pulled from the water. Various shots of fishermen and their nets, nicely shot. People on the bridge watch the nets being pulled in. Very high shot of circular net being winched in - three large fish in the net. Fisherman looks up at the painter on the bridge who he realises is painting him. He lets go of the lever to comb his hair and moustache and the net sinks back into the water. Exaggerated expression from one of the young men on the bridge. Young boy looks at the painting. Fishing boat. Young boy fishing from quay side with two small fish laid out beside him. Boy walks along quay side and other boy offers to swap marbles for his fishing rod. Latter then sits on the quay side with fish laid beside him. A train passes behind him. Seagulls creep up and eat his fish while he is concentrating on the fly in the water. He looks up at the gulls as they fly over a house. He throws in his fly again. It lands by a Pacific Coast Fruit Distributors label. The city at night. Fisherman talks to young boy. Fisherman has lots of tattoos. He spreads his arms wide as if describing a large fish. Top shot of a couple walking arm in arm through a street at night. A blind man has dropped his white stick and he feels around on the cobbles for it. The young boy passes it to him.
