This should be labelled 'Vic-Wells Ballet' - Sadlers Wells Ballet was not formed until 1939. The first part shows preparations and rehearsal for 'Swan Lake' with Alicia Markova and Robert Helpmann (premiere, November 1934). Markova appears in the first shots at the back, in tutu, wearing a small crown-like headdress. The group of four girls shown when the camera pans to the left includes at 0.13 includes Margot Fonteyn and Beryl Grey - Markova is centre back, and Grey appear to be at aright. At 0.24. the girl limbering-up looks like Fonteyn. At 0.27 we see Beryl Grey tying her slipper ribbons. At 0.34, we see Markova being massaged. At 0.46, we see Markova and Helpmann. The second part of the film shows Markova as the Sugar Plum Fairy with Stanley Judson as the Prince in the finale of 'Casse Noisette.'
