Amusing pastiche of the "Stars as They Are" series with Jack Hulbert playing the fool.

C/U of Jack Hulbert speaking to camera. "Yes", Mr Hulbert was saying. "Give me the country - and especially hunting - " Jack sits beside the fire being interviewed by a man who is taking notes. Jack looks very animated. M/S of Jack attempting to get onto a horse. He ends up facing the wrong way. Slapstick stuff of Jack riding a horse badly. "Golf? Sure! Only the other day..." M/S of Jack and the interviewer as Jack tells a tall story about what a great golfer he is. He pretends to take a swing and knocks the interviewer's notes from his hand.
"It was a lovely lie - " M/S of Jack standing beside a wall with a golf club in his hand. He looks up at the top of the wall then down at his golf ball. H attempts to take a swing then falls into the wall bumping his head. "Ah yes. Give me the country - and my good old Tudor mansion - " Beside the fire Jack waxes lyrical. M/S of Jack looking out of a window. We then see him emerging from a broken down property with walls half missing. He climbs up tumbledown brickwork on to a flat roof. He yawns and stretches and begins to undress. He hangs his jacket up on some exposed timbers. C/U of Jack lying down to sleep with his head on a piece of piping and a jacket over himself for warmth. "It's a great lie - er life!" C/U of Jack as if speaking to the interviewer.
Note: "Pot Luck" was a revue show staged by André Charlot at the Vaudeville Theatre.
