    On St. Patrick's Day; the Earl of Cavan presents Queen Alexandra's gift of shamrock to officers and men of the Irish Guards. CU 2 men w/ box of shamrocks. GV soldiers lined up. They step up individually to shake hands; receive shamrock from Earl of C. (also in Army uniform). CU soldiers putting shamrocks on their hats. Pan on drummers; others raising hats in cheer CU a big Irish Wolfhound dog standing on hind legs; with forepaws on shoulders of boy in uniform -- maybe both are mascots of the Guards. Boy pets dog. CU men put on shamrocks.

    Luck; tradition; superstition. Military; holidays.
