  • Description

World War One. Military. Pay Day in Army Camp.

Location of events unclear - hot climate, could be Salonika (Thessalonika), Greece.

Begins with horse drawn cart driving away, soldiers standing outside tents wave to it. C/U of officer, tents in background.

Line of British soldiers; one walks past camera, turns, salutes and steps up to a table to receive wage packet. Pan to officers seated at and standing behind table; one counts out money and hands it to soldier. Pan quickly on another soldier coming up to get his wages. of the officers at the table at work, amongst them is a very young officer.

M/S of two officers running down a country land (looks like somewhere in English countryside - exact location unknown). They run out a spool of telephone wire along the road. They fling themselves onto the roadside; one sticks an instrument into the earth, another starts fiddling with a field telephone. Looks like army exercise?
