  • Short Summary

Street scenes in the snow - policeman directing traffic. Buxton countryside, children sledging etc.

  • Description

Introductory intertitle reads: "Ask the nearest City Policeman what he thinks of snow and art, and if you've the nerve to wait for an answer it'll probably be in a word of one syllable beginning with H..."

C/U of policeman in wet weather gear - sou'wester and helmet - directs traffic in a snowy square. Trolley bus and van drive past. "And yet there is an 'art' side to the white mantle that covers our countryside with a new beauty... (As in these Buxton views.)" L/S of a woman walking along a snowy tree lined street. M/S of a bubbling brook with snowy banks. L/S of beautiful snow covered landscape - rolling hills - with two children walking in foreground of frame. They stand and look at view. View of a lake with two swans in the foreground.

"And beyond the realm of art, is the sporty side of the Snow King..." Children sledge down a snowy hillside. Various shots of the children and adults sledging. By means of a camera trick (film reversal) the sledgers appear to travel uphill.

Was item in Pathe Pictorial issue number 410.

Note: any ideas what the word of one syllable beginning with H is?!
