  • Short Summary

Extracts from a comedy review show featuring Clarice Mayne, A.W. Baskcombe and Roy Royston.

  • Description

"Miss Clarice Mayne returns to the Footlights and leads us a dance..." M/S of Clarice dancing in front of a chorus line. The girls wear some pretty outrageous outfits. C/U of Clarice. She holds her skirt up while she does a little dance. "Mrs Smith of Peckham" (A.W. Baskcombe) gets a bit confused on Einstein's relativity and thinks she's related to the Student (Roy Royston)." M/S of Baskcombe (in drag) and Royston performing a little slapstick routine. C/U of Baskcombe (shot shows evidence of decomposition in original).

"Yes" the student had remarked, "We're really all related to each other....relatively speaking - " Baskcombe looks pleased and starts giving the student a lecture. "Really! Then, you'd know my old man Bob Smith of Peckham!" C/U of Baskcombe. More funny business. A maid brings in some tea. "But, the chorus had the best of understandings-" Very funny chorus routine where the girls look like they have extremely long bodies - some girls appear at the top of a curtain, other girls legs are seen at the bottom so it looks like they are giants. At the end they run off in different directions. Very cute.

Issue number unknown but was probably an Eve's Film Review issue number.

Note: very dark print. "Snap" appeared at the New Vaudeville Theatre in 1922 so dated from this.

    Safety print only.
