    Scenes of Smyrna; Turkey after terrible fire which nearly destroyed the city on Sept.14th & 15th; 1922; during the Turkish recapture of Asia Minor (Greek-Turk War). Shot from across river; panning on remains of city: acres of ruins; charred shells of buildings; people wandering along near water. Shot from boat anchored along river bank on Smyrna side: several people standing along dock; perhaps waiting for boat; others walk about or stand talking; ruins in BG.

    Next shot of Turkish soldiers standing amidst rubble. 2 soldiers stand talking to civilian man in middle of ruins. Then men stand behind tables piled w/ loaves of bread; in BG other men are struggling to hold back large crowd. MS mob of hungry people pushing and shoving; holding their hands up as relief worker stands on table throwing loaves of vread into crowd. Shot looking out at the frenzied crowd.
