    General shot of the ruined Sicilian harbour after the invasion by US troops. C/Us of anti-British posters showing John Bull as an octopus with tentacles reaching over a globe and the words 'Pax Britannic'. Various shots show ruined buildings in a town as a few soldiers wander about and drive past in trucks. Several shots of battered enemy self-propelled guns; American soldiers light cigarettes beside one of them.

    M/S Pan across a large pile of mines on a beach. Brief sequence shows soldiers coming ashore from a landing craft; some walk through the water, others drive in on a truck. M/S pan across ruins buildings in a town; every wall and roof still standing is painted with slogans referring to Benito Mussolini: 'Duce!', 'Duce a Noi!', 'Duce ritorna'.
