A woman with very long hair sits at a dressing table. M. Emile cuts the bulk of her hair off in two fell swoops. He then puts a towel around the woman's shoulders and combs and cuts the hair which remains. C/U of the technique.

Intertitle reads: "Shingling does not injure the hair - it strengthens it and generally adds a becoming touch to those fair ladies who decide to sacrifice tresses temporarily to fashion". M. Emile combs the hair whilst the woman admires her new look in the mirror. He takes away the towel and we see the finished style. Another shot shows the woman stroking the hair on the back of her head lovingly.
