• Short Summary

French soldiers shelling during World War One.

  • Description

    Shelling.

Opens with very hazy shot of smoke from bomb hitting in distance. Then a very clear shot of bomb landing in village; next to a house which is already in ruins.

MS battlefield: MS 2 French soldiers in trench; one sits in a seat raised up so he can peek through hole at top of trench; the other is holding a primitive-looking telephone - or some sort of communications device - up to his ear. MS French artillery firing big gun. Shot of unidentified thing blown up into a tree. Wide shot looking over hills; with explosions in distance. Good shot of a few French soldiers hurrying towards camera, one carries a wounded friend piggyback. MS battlefield debris.

Big explosion sends a torrent of earth flying. 3 French soldiers at machine gun. Bombed house in city with smoke blowing about; pan down street. Another house bombed; can see fire burning through second floor windows. Side view panning on same. Shot of barrel of gun peeking out of foliage.

    Cataloguer's note: French commentary.
