Australian swimmers are warned about sharks by spotter plane flying overhead.

The shark patrol report comes over the air reporter John Highfield says "At the moment we are flying over Long Reef and we have just sighted a school of sharks about 5 or 6 in number about 50 yards out from the beach and just to the North of the headland. If the surf club could clear the water it would be advisable as the school of sharks is heading in towards the beach".
