  • Description

    Stratford-on-Avon (Stratford-upon-Avon), Warwickshire.

Various shots of the traditional ceremony to celebrate the birthday of "the immortal Bard" William Shakespeare in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon. A large crowd is gathered in the town to hear a fanfare and see flags of all nations unfurled on masts along the street. Mayors and officials are seen standing in the street; brief shots of the crowd and people carrying flowers walking along in a procession.

Commentator notes that the flag of Austria has gone from the masthead, but the flag of Ethiopia proudly flies, saying, "Great art knows no political frontiers".
