This is a film which compares the appearance of various sea creatures to modern fashions (fringes, skirts, etc.) Underwater shots of various fish swimming around on the sea bed. Lobsters, sea anemones, sea worms - their appearance compared to fashion trimmings. A group of rosy feather stars are compared to a "decaying feather boa" for example! Octopus moves around the sea bed. C/U of octopus eye and tentacles. John Dory eats small fish. We see the fish "end on". Pipe fish. Sea urchin's waistline is discussed. Turbot and its camouflage. The Dabfish (?) wears two piece suit - dark on top, light underneath. Ray or skate. Sole. Sand-dab.

Lobster wears a new fashionable skirt - long at the back. Lobster backs into a rock crevice. Crabs. C/U of claws. Myer or Myers (?) crab covers itself with shells, seaweed and pebbles to camouflage itself. Spider crab wishes to escape notice of enemies so dresses up. Crab seen placing pebbles on its back to camouflage. Hermit crabs scuttle along the sea bed. They find shells to live in. Two crabs fight over the same shell and narrator compares this to two women fighting over a bargain in the sales. One is eventually victorious.
