  • Description

Group of soldiers demonstrate signalling devices using telescope, heliograph, semaphore, field telephone. Meant to show evolution of signal devices.

    Location of events unknown.

Soldiers hurrying over a hill. Two soldiers setting up a portable telegraph. Another sets up a tripod. Pan to right: man attaches telescope to tripod while three other men are busy with their own methods. One sits down on ground with a pad of paper (maybe he is representing codes or something). Another soldier has a flag for signalling. Another is setting up a bright light on another tripod; while a soldier with a notebook reads out to him what to signal.

The flag man is waving his flag. Pan to telescope man down on ground next to the other man scribbling madly into a notebook. Pan to another soldier operating telegraph; tapping out something in Morse Code.

World War One. Military communications technology. Science; message; secret; information.
